From time to time we will also upload our website to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. This is a digital archive of the World Wide Web founded by the Internet Archive, a nonprofit based in San Francisco, California. Created in 1996 and launched to the public in 2001, it allows the user to go “back in time” and see how websites looked in the past. Multiple versions of single websites are archived, captured at many points in time.
It is an automated process initiated by the Wayback Machine with robot programs that “crawl” the web, saving and indexing web pages it finds. Anyone can also upload web pages at no cost to the Internet Archive via the Archive’s website.
As of March 13, 2023 the Wayback Machine had archived more than 800 billion web pages. You can read more here.
