Cynthia L. Olsen has lived in the
northwestern Pennsylvania and southwestern New York area for her
entire life. Her main inspiration comes from her love for the
outdoors and wildlife from the area. As long as she can remember she
was always drawing, mostly animals. She attended art classes in high
school and dabbled in may different art forms and making signs. She
now uses a woodburner instead of a pencil as her favorite art form
and tries to capture each and every detail. Her passion for
photographing the beautiful landscape of this area is now becoming
the ideas for many of her woodburnings. She also enjoys recycling or
repurposing wood items into pieces of art. "The biggest satisfaction
I get is when someone else finds a connection to one of my drawings" Her background is in newspaper advertising with many years of designing ads, newsletters, flyers, business cards, etc. Cynthia has belonged to the Corry Artist's Guild since 2008. In the past year she has had her work on display at the Painted Finch Gallery in Corry. Very recently she has discovered "woodburning on paper" with great success and plans on continuing this avenue, as well as wood and leather. Born in Victoria, BC Canada, Joanne Merrick Johnson has traveled to many places around the world leaving a part of her behind through her art work, but adding the wonderful experiences she has enjoyed, through every turn of her travels. After living in Oregon and California for many years, Joanne moved to an island in the Mariana chain, called Tinian in Micronesia. It is an island existing of 32 square miles of beauty. Johnson was involved with many art shows on Guam, Saipan and Tinian. She sculpted and showed many of her paintings as well. When life took her back to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada she continued sculpting and joined the Vancouver Island Sculptor's Guild as well as the Island Illustrators. There were many shows that brought growth and new insight into her art. Johnson moved here in 2000 and dove right in to the arts movement in our area, joining the Corry Artists Guild and the Arts Council. Joanne expressed: : "It has been a wonderful time growing in the new mediums and sharing the love of art with all of our talented local artists". Abstract Photography is another "Passion" of Joanne's. Watch for the many brightly colored abstracts that are sure to catch your attention and imagination.
