Knuckle Down, June 10th 2021

Local favorites Knuckle Down open the 2021 Thursday in the Park concert series Thursday June 10th! Well known for performing everything from bars to benefits and even private parties, Knuckle Down plays an eclectic mix of classic and modern rock, and mixes a few original tunes in to boot.

Thursdays in the Park is made possible by grant funding from Corry Community Foundation and the Northwest Bancorp, Inc. Charitable Foundation

As with all of our events this summer, we still encourage social distancing and mask wearing when interacting face to face with people. Our events are pet friendly, but we would appreciate it if you would keep your animals on a leash and ensure they are well behaved. We do not have a rain location this year. In the event of bad weather, unfortunately, we will be forced to cancel.

Don’t forget to come back to see the next band announced on Friday June 11th!

Announcing our Thursday in the Park 2021 Line Up

The Corry Area Arts Council is excited to announce the lineup of musical acts for the 2021 Thursday in the Park Concert Series.

Each Friday before a band is scheduled to appear, a post will go up with a reminder of what band is coming next week along with a description of the band and any applicable links to their websites or social media pages so that you might be able to check them out in advance.

Each concert begins at 7PM and typically concludes around 9PM. This year we will NOT have an indoor rain location – if a show gets rained out, it will just be an unfortunate situation. HOPEFULLY we can try to bring those acts back around at a future date, but we are not setting rain dates at this time.

This year’s lineup includes:

Knuckle Down – June 10
Happy Days – June 17
Lucky Dog – June 24
Kokomo Time Band – July 1
Mayflower Hill – July 8
House of Rhythm – July 15
Dangerforce – July 22
Matty and the Pickles – July 29
Radioactive – August 5
Kevin Downey and Friends – August 12
Slim and Red – August 19
Dennis Ford – August 26

Our thanks go out to our financial sponsors of these events, Corry Community Foundation and Northwest Bancorp, Inc. Charitable Foundation!

We’ll see you on at our first show on Thursday, June 10th with local favorite Knuckle Down!!

Fireworks Display, June 26th, 2021

We all heard the sad news this week of the complete cancelation of this year’s Corry Fest. We don’t consider it the fault of the Corry Chamber or anyone else involved; it just seems many vendors weren’t willing to commit the time and effort necessary for just a single day event.

That being said, we were broken hearted to think that the City of Corry might not have anything to look forward to this summer, so we wanted to step up and deliver SOMETHING.

In the spirit of celebration, The Corry Area Arts Council, thanks to funding from the Corry Community Foundation and the cooperation of the City of Corry, Corry City Council, and Gibson Fireworks and Custom Apparel are THRILLED to announce that there will be a fireworks show on Saturday June 26th at dusk!

The fireworks will be set off at the Soccer Fields on Sciota Road, near the American Legion, just as they were in 2019. That’s right! The people who bring you Thursday in the Park music are going to KICK OFF the seasonal fireworks shows the week before July 4th, so that you and your families can still stick to any other holiday travel plans you may have already made, while enjoying a show right here at home!

Speaking of Thursday in the Park, follow our Facebook page or stay tuned right here to the website as more information on that will be coming VERY soon!

Given the short notice, it wasn’t possible for us to arrange a full day festival complete with food trucks, etc… but a celebratory fireworks display is at least SOMETHING our community can unite behind and look forward to, and we hope it is just the beginning of more events coming down the line this summer!

Concord Station, 8/29/2019

Concord Station has been turning some heads in Corry over the last couple of years. The Corry Area Arts Council has had their eye on these fellas for a while, and are thrilled to close out the 2019 Thursday in the Park Concert Series with 3 country boys from Elgin, PA, as Mark, Jeff & Randy carry on the music tradition with acoustics, harmonies & the old classics.

Thursday in the Park would not be possible without the generosity and support of the Corry Community Foundation and Erie Arts & Culture.

The Necessary Experience, 8/22/2019

This Thursday the Corry Area Arts Council welcomes a newcomer to the line up: The Necessary Experience. When asked what genre of music they play, they simply respond with “good music,” and when asked about their style, they are happy to describe themselves as Fun, Funky Rock N’ Roll. With well rehearsed sets that transition from one song to the next seamlessly, this band is sure to wow audiences as they play through a catalog of their influences, including The Beatles, Steve Miller, Marvin Gaye, Led Zepplin, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and anything Motown in general!
